To Be Quenched is…

It can be challenging to discover the fruits we are born to produce when our roots are not deeply established in supportive soil and regularly watered and fed unconditional love. At the same time, we cannot grow in our strengths in isolation or without being exposed to the elements, even challenging ones we might not think would be ideal or conducive to producing fruit. Yet, when we are given room to struggle and grow together in grace-filled spaces that embrace rather than ignore or resist this world’s diverse, challenging, magnificent ecosystem, it becomes easier to recognize we are all uniquely made and purposeful. Recognizing we are all equally lost and equally capable of accessing the resources we need to find our way within and outside of ourselves becomes more natural. Recognizing that all of us are equally loveable and equally reliant on one another grows easier.

This is not a space for “knowing,” for “right” answers, for showing others the “correct” path. Attaining perfection is not the goal. If anything, it’s the opposite. This is a space for questions, for contemplation, for honesty, for wrestling with the unresolved and the limitless depths of knowing and being known, not being the know it all. This is a place to be rooted and established in unconditional love of self and love of others and discover the fruits that kind of knowing produces in our lives and lives of others.

It is a place to ask questions, share fears, hurts, joys, disappointments, and all the things we need to help one another dig deeper and access the common source of limitless water. It is not for us to give each other the answers, but share of our experiences, help each other feel safe and capable of trusting our own capacity to have a direct line to the Source. and learn to reconnect to our own ability to hear, know, find, and follow the still small voice of the Divine that lives in all of us.

Sometimes we lose our way, not because we don’t know it or no longer have God within us, but rather because the noises of our world simply drown out, distract, and tell us lies. We may feel lost at times, but we are never truly disconnected. The path we’re on will always get us where we need to go. Sometimes we just need help, safety, and supportive places for us to be able to rest, re-center, reconnect, and remember who we truly are and that we’re already designed for that connection.

This is the space for those who have struggled to belong in faith spaces or struggled to reconcile what is true, what God is like, and what we’ve been told “He” is and wants from you. It is also for those who are deeply committed to their practice and their tradition but are willing and seeking to learn more from others who may not have had the same kind of affirming experience they have had in faith-based communities. This space will challenge you, but it will not tell you what to believe or how God shows up in the world. It is meant to encourage you to dig deeper into what you know or, perhaps, when needed, unlearn what you have learned and remember what you have known all along to be true. Regardless of your experience, this room is for loving your neighbor as yourself, deeply and compassionately, as they are and you are, as we all seek to figure out what it means to embody that each and every day.

In short, no matter what your experience has been with church or faith, if you’re willing and drawn to a space that will graciously support your journey and the journey of others, without pressure or agendas, and of exploration of what it may mean for you to live with or deepen your connection with the Divine, this is the space for you.
